Painting Portraits From Photographs
with Danielle Eckhardt
Danielle brings a passion for art as well as many years of study.
She's studied at The Corcoran in Washington, D.C., at Temple University, and
from numerous artists.
Tuesday nights June 3rd -July 22nd 6 pm-9 pm
This intermediate class focuses on using
Old Masters Techniques with Contemporary Application.
By increasing our pallet to include translucent colors for glazing, we build on top of our foundation.
By working in grisaille for an underpainting we will add thinly applied layers of glaze to slowly build up the opaque whites for the lightest light of the final glaze.
1st Class will focus on drawing from a live model to understand the anatomy of the face, axes of the head, perspective and foreshortening. With this new knowledge we will begin drawing our portrait on canvas.
2nd Class we begin our underpainting in grisaille.
3rd - 7th Classes use oil glazes to build up our opaque whites.
Final class we finish our final glaze and participate in a rewarding critique.
Class fee: $150 for eight 3-hour classes.
(Includes $10 model fee for the first class)
Registration must be made in advance
